The Phoenix High-Performance Computing (PHPC) workloads and users were recently migrated to the DISCOVERY HPC cluster. The DISCOVERY HPC offers more secure computing, new features, more storage, and will help streamline investigators’ experience with research technology. This effort, which started in summer 2024, recently completed successfully thanks to a great collaboration and effort between the Enterprise Unix Team and the Research IT infrastructure team.
An HPC is a combination of specialized hardware and software configured to handle massive amounts of data at high speeds with parallel performance and high availability. Approximately 300 users across 100+ different projects were migrated to DISCOVERY HPC. The Phoenix HPC platform is set to be decommissioned after 14 years of successful service to the Johns Hopkins research community.
