When Eugene Shenderov, associate professor of oncology and cancer research immunology, needed help storing sensitive data to support his team’s work on speeding up diagnosis of a rare leukemia, he turned to IT@JH for help. Dr. Shenderov’s team needed to find the best way to analyze, transfer, and store sensitive data, and Research IT was able to provide DISCOVERY (HPC) and SAFER/SAFE Desktop. These tools were specifically built to meet the complex needs of diverse research at Johns Hopkins. According to Dr. Shenderov, IT is an integral part of researchers’ toolkits, and IT@JH serves as the custodian of these tools. He hopes researchers involve IT early in the process when starting a project. Visit the Research IT website for more details on how IT aided Dr. Shenderov’s work.
