New Guidelines for Responsible Use of Generative AI (GenAI)

JHU and IT@JH leadership recently released a set of guidelines for the responsible use of GenAI. These guidelines were established to ensure that GenAI technologies are used safely and in compliance with current policies and include the following:

• Start with our approved GenAI tools and connect with IT@JH before procuring new ones  
• Do not enter proprietary data—including clinical, financial, or business records—into third-party, unapproved GenAI tools
• You are responsible for any AI-generated content that you produce or publish
• Adhere to current university policies

Over the next few months IT@JH will be deploying new tools and resources — including our own AI platform, the “Hopkins AI Lab.” Invitations to join the Hopkins AI Lab will be rolling out over the next few months, but the support site is available now. Our AI resources are also expanding. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on how IT@JH is working to advance the use of GenAI across Johns Hopkins.
