IT@JH creates paid summer positions each year to help people with a high school diploma, limited work experience, and possibly some college coursework gain valuable exposure to IT. This summer, seven interns are working in various areas of IT@JH. These interns acquire useful experience while helping IT teams. This summer’s interns include:

Transitioning analytics dashboards from Tableau to Power BI
Obinna Elemuo, rising senior at UMBC
Epic Application Intern, Health IT
Working on Epic and Excel documentation
Antuoine Dews, rising freshman at Western Governors University
Multifactor Authentication Intern, Enterprise Directory and Messaging
Helping implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and enterprise single sign on (ESSO)
Joseph Gossick, rising senior at Franklin & Marshall College
Finance & Automation Intern, Administration & Finance
Supporting financial operations through integration of technology and dashboard tools
Beatrix Nguyen, rising junior at University of Maryland
Research IT Assistant
Configuration and testing of apps including OnCore, eReg, and OpenSpecimen
Mackenzi Preston, rising senior at High Point University
Epic Application Intern, Health IT Inpatient Team
Supporting the implementation of infusion pump interoperability
Anna Shang, recent Cornell University graduate
WordPress Support Assistant, Design Team
Assisting with WordPress technical support, feature updates, and QA
Most of the interns are already embedded in their teams and work. Obinna Elemuo says, “I have a profound passion for using IT to help improve healthcare.” Beatrix Nguyen is “having a great time learning about everything” and is “looking forward to continued work with my amazing team!”
Mackenzi Preston says, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to work that directly supports patient care and look forward to a productive and rewarding summer with the team.” Anna Shang shared, “I’ve been having a great time getting to know the Design team while starting to explore my own professional interests. I really love the team so far and I’m excited to keep learning!”
