Abridge software captures the patient-doctor conversation using ambient listening, uses natural language processing to create a transcript of the discussion, and uses large language models and generative AI to convert the transcript into a draft clinical note for providers. The software separates chitchat from relevant information to produce a note in narrative format.
Clinicians must first collect patient consent to record the encounter. View the Consent tip sheet.
Abridge Inside (Haiku) Epic currently only works in Haiku for iOS devices. Providers can locate a patient in the emergency department on their trackboard or from the outpatient clinic schedule.
Abridge Outside Epic works for Android or iOS devices by downloading the Abridge app. Inpatient providers can utilize this functionality and transfer text via copy/paste to Epic from notes.abridge.com.
Starting with a system template or using existing templates, providers insert the Abridge text into the note.
Providers must review and finalize the drafted note. Only the finalized note becomes part of the patient’s medical record.
