Transferring Between JHU and JHHS Just Became More Flexible

The employee administrative transfer guidelines between JHU and JHHS were recently expanded to improve flexibility and continuity for employees as they grow their careers at Johns Hopkins. The guidelines cover benefits eligibility, conditions of the transfer, service dates, and more.

If you are currently working at JHU and find an opportunity at JHHS, or vice versa, here’s what you should know:

• All transfers between JHHS and JHU will be recognized, whether the organization or the employee initiated them.
• Years of service will transfer and be recognized across the organizations.
• These guidelines became effective January 1, 2026, and are not retroactive.
