2025 Digital Student Experience Conference (DSEC) Highlights Student Information System Technology

The University Information Systems team plans and presents their Digital Student Experience Conference each year to bring together functional and technical staff from across the university. Participants explore and discuss digital solutions in admissions, registration, advising, billing, and their impact on student experiences.

This year’s conference, held earlier in October, attracted over 295 attendees to participate in 16 informative sessions featuring 35 speakers. The keynote speaker, Erin Culbreth, Senior Associate Provost at Washington University in St. Louis, presented “Beyond Technology: Building a Transformative Student Information Journey at WashU,” which emphasized the importance of aligning technological transitions with the long-term vision for student success in implementing their new student information system.

Following this presentation, Johns Hopkins leaders Amynah Mithani, Mark Chisamore, and Noemí Crespo Rice discussed the significant accomplishments from the first year of the student information system (SIS) transformation roadmap. Other sessions addressed topics such as digital accessibility, machine learning for admissions, and practical applications of Microsoft 365 tools, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to enhancing educational technology and fostering a better student experience.
