The All Children’s Hospital (ACH) neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) worked with the Health IT team to pilot a new way to provide support to families who are unable to stay at the hospital all day. Nurses use the secure Epic Rover app on their hospital phone to take a “Photo of the Day” of NICU babies for parents/guardians to securely view in MyChart. Epic Rover is a mobile app that extends Epic’s functionality to handheld devices. This new workflow also replaced a third-party vendor, saving ACH $50,000/year.
