Multiple groups across the institution are actively collaborating to establish guidelines, best practices, and policies for the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in various areas of work. The Data Trust is spearheading efforts for Johns Hopkins Medicine, focusing on ethical frameworks and governance to ensure AI technologies are used effectively and safely in healthcare contexts. Additionally, the Responsible AI Task Force (RAITF), convened by JHM leadership, is dedicated to developing an oversight plan that ensures the ethical and responsible integration of AI technologies into care delivery processes.

Simultaneously, leaders from Johns Hopkins University, particularly from the Provost’s Office, are working to craft guidelines addressing the non-clinical applications of AI, providing a comprehensive framework for its use in areas such as education, research, and administrative operations. Complementing these efforts, IT@JH is advancing a project to enhance accessibility to AI tools by offering a chat-based user interface that supports interaction with multiple AI models. This initiative aims to streamline and democratize access to AI, empowering faculty, staff, and researchers with innovative tools for their work. Together, these efforts reflect a university-wide commitment to leveraging AI responsibly and strategically across Johns Hopkins.
